It’s been a long time (a few weeks now) that I have been trying to setup and write my first blog post. I have been stressed out and worried as well – just like this :-)

I have enrolled for training courses and am learning about online marketing from industry renowned leaders, so I have a handful of ideas.

But what’s my first blog post going to be? Many pro bloggers would recommend

-       Writing some introductory post which is a good way to start for newbie’s, cool stuff.

-       Quality content that will offer immense value to readers but you need to be a pro in blogging, your niche, your field of expertise.

-       Offer a freebie that may be an eBook, software, etc you have developed in the field of your expertise.

People reading this post have either been through this or are witnessing this phase. Just take a moment and think of what your first post was or what your first post is going to be.

What did I do? I chose a slightly different approach not in the list; I am following my heart and writing what I feel like …. and its going to be my 3 main obstacles I experienced for the first blog post!

I like to be perfect in what I do. As most of you would agree, this is a good characteristic but this is also a primary reason that has stopped me (until now) from writing my first blog.

The second was information overload, there was so much of information around that I did not get around doing any activity through to completion.

The third major obstacle was fear
-       What am I going to write about?
-       What would people think of my blog?
-       What do I have to offer?
-       I have never written any blogs, articles, etc
-       I don’t have the copy writing skills … and lots more

So what made me overcome both these obstacles – being perfectionist, information overload and fear?

This breakthrough came from

-       A coaching session of a renowned leader in our industry – “You cannot become a perfectionist until you are in the game i.e. Michael Jordan did not become a basket ball legend by sitting outside and watching other people play the game.J” which means “Don’t get it right, but get it going” and eventually you will do it right and perfect.

-       A proverb that says “How do you eat an elephant? It is one bite at a time…”. I mean no disrespect to any person, caste, religion whatsoever, but it’s just a powerful proverb that says do 1 thing at a time.

-       A quote sent by a friend/partner “An obstacle is something you see if you take your eyes off your goal!” Fear is an obstacle that stops us moving forward and it needs to be dealt face to face.

These things really hit me and I thought to myself, aaah well !!!, we all know this, right? But still so many people shy away from this fact. What this meant for me is “taking ACTION” and writing my first blog. Being “IN the game” is the “NAME of the game” & can help “WIN the game”.

I have managed to start overcoming my obstacles, and I hope you have too.

This blog post might add some value to a few, but I’m pretty sure it will encourage people not yet in the game, will bring back good old memories for the Pros and also be a reminder for folks to do things that they intend to do since a long time but have been shying away from them!

Cheers!
